Tarun’s Story

Tarun is currently a high school student at Mission San Jose High School and lives in Fremont, California, USA. His academic interest is in the area of biology and medicine. Tarun’s curiosity in biology began with studying plants. In 2019, he researched the effects of soil nutrients in plant growth and wrote a paper on “Comparison of Stress Responses Due to Various Salinity Amounts in Invasive (Raphanus raphanisttrum) Versus Crop Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) Species”. This interest evolved more into the wonders of the human brain and the science of cognition. He is currently involved in a research project at Stanford studying the effects of sleep on brain function, onset of Alzheimer’s, and other brain disorders.

Tarun’s passions lie in playing musical instruments and board games. Starting at the age of 4, Tarun played both the piano. He then picked up trumpet at the age of 11. In addition to playing in several school bands, Tarun is the principal trumpet player for the San Jose Youth Symphony Philharmonic Orchestra, and has performed in many locations across the Bay Area and in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland with the group. He is the founder & executive director of the non-profit public charity foundation, Music Thrives. He has taken the foundation from concept to launch to early engagements. In addition to taking an active role in the boardgames club at school, Tarun is the inventor of the “Badland Battle” board game, a top selling strategy game selling here at theGAMECRAFTER.

In his spare time Tarun shares his learnings across these fields through his blog https://blog.tarunlive.com to share his personal winning strategies across the world of board games.

His patents include:

US Design Patent 29/864,563 – Badland Battle Board Game

US Provisional Patent 63/366,254 – State and Method of Recurring Multi-Level Damage in Board Games
