Correlation between playing music and academic achievements.

Home Music & Success

People who play music are more likely to be successful

Learning to play music is a complex activity that involves ability to read music, quick/critical thinking, and hand-eye coordination. Music is one of the few skills that requires 100% accuracy. In regular subjects like math or science, a 90% or higher is considered an “A”, which is a good grade. However, in music, even 99% won’t cut it. To perform at your best, you and all the members of your band/orchestra need to be 100% accurate. This gives music students a sense of perfection, and allows them to excel in their regular courses.

Mastering a piece of music is all about how much practice goes into it. Music learners have to practice everyday and they quickly learn the importance of time management. This skill can be transferred to other aspects of their life including academics and career later on in life.

Performing music requires a sense of confidence and lack of stress. Performing music teaches students to manage their pressure in a healthy way, and thus reduces the risk of those students having stress over their regular subjects.
